Here at Caney Creek Farm we are proud breeders of the beautiful Blue Laced Red Wyandotte Chicken. Nothing beats eggs from
happy, healthy, free range hens. The Wyandotte is a breed of chicken originating in the United States. The first examples of the breed appeared in the 1870s. Wyandotte chickens are a docile, dual-purpose breed kept for their brown eggs as well as for
meat. They are also very beautiful birds, available in all sorts of colors. Making the Wyandotte a great heritage breed for any homestead. Not to mention the broody hens make fantastic mothers!
Our Blue Laced Red Wyandotte flock is a work in progress. I have been breeding them for about two years now, and I'm proud to say there has been steady improvement.
With three different lines, all of which have their own faults and strong points, there is a lot to work with. Our goal here is to create a Caney Creek Farm Blue Laced Red Wyandotte that meets the standard of perfection, while still maintaining the utility
and versatility of this great heritage breed. We keep a closed flock here at Caney Creek Farm. Not just to keep our lines pure but to maintain strong biosecurity. In order to keep the genetics strong in my flock I use the Clan Mating System.
